NHL Game Summary - Columbus at St. Louis

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Erik Johnson scored the game-winner 3:59 into overtime to lead the St. Louis Blues past the Columbus Blue Jackets, 2-1, Scottrade Center.
The goal came on a slapper from the point for the Blues, who have won two straight games and five of six to improve to four points behind idle Colorado for the lone remaining playoff spot in the West with three games left. The tally was set up after Marc Methot was penalized for holding at 3:17.
Chris Mason stopped 27 shots as the Blues won their fifth straight at home.
"The first couple of power plays Columbus had, they were sharper than we wanted them to be," said Blues coach Davis Payne. "I think we had to make sure we understood how hard of fight it was going to take. We made the adjustment."
Derick Brassard scored the lone goal for Columbus, which fell for the third straight contest. Mathieu Garon racked up 32 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have lost 10 of their last 12 games in St. Louis.
"I think we battled really hard and guys stepped up," said Garon. "It's good to see young guys come in here and bring energy. Overall, we played a good game."
Brassard put Columbus on the board 3:10 into the first period on the power play, as he tipped-in Jakub Voracek's initial shot in front. T.J. Oshie was called for interference with Garon to set up the man advantage.
McDonald tied the game at the 10:39 mark of the second on a slapper, his 23rd of the year, after a 4-on-1 break as David Perron fed the veteran for the score.
St. Louis outshot Columbus 9-6 in the third period.
Blue Jackets center Andrew Murray suffered a head injury and did not return...The season series finished tied 3-3...McDonald finished with a goal and an assist...Both teams were 1-for-6 on the power play.
