NHL Game Summary - Colorado at St. Louis

(Thursday, January 15th)

Final Score: St. Louis 5, Colorado 2

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - T.J. Oshie recorded a goal and two assists as St. Louis topped Colorado, 5-2, at Scottrade Center.

Patrik Berglund, Cam Janssen, Brad Boyes, David Backes also scored for the Blues, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Manny Legace stopped 24 shots for the win.

"The boys, I thought they played extremely well in front of me all night," said Legace. "There were no big second chances and they took away everything."

Cody McLeod and Milan Hejduk lit the lamp for the Avalanche, who have dropped two in a row after winning three straight. Peter Budaj gave up four goals on just 25 shots in defeat.

"We weren't able to get our shots through from the point tonight," said Colorado coach Tony Granato. "They have a bunch of forwards that are willing to block shots and we couldn't get those pucks through."

Boyes put the Blues up 3-0 at the 59 second mark of the third, slipping a shot through a screen from the left wing on the power play.

The Avs finally countered with McLeod's ninth of the year at 2:18, then Hejduk roofed the rebound of a Ryan Smyth chance at 8:54 for a one-goal game.

Oshie added an insurance goal on a power play with 5:08 left in regulation, and Backes accounted for the final margin with a short-handed empty-netter with 2:05 to play.

St. Louis jumped out to a 1-0 lead 4:48 into the contest as Berglund's wrister from the inner edge of the left circle slipped between Budaj's arm and body.

Janssen scored his first of the season at 9:36 of the second and Legace was strong with nine saves to keep Colorado off the board.

It was Janssen's second career goal and first with the Blues for the St. Louis native.

"Growing up and watching the Blues and seeing everybody score goals and how exciting it is to score goals...to finally get my first one at home is unbelievable," said Janssen. "My mom and dad are going to be pumped up when I get home."

Game Notes

Berglund leads all rookies in goals with 14...St. Louis has won six of the last 10 meetings...Janssen's last goal came on February 24, 2007 against Washington as a member of the New Jersey Devils.
