Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Pavel Datsyuk had two goals and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings handled the St. Louis Blues, 4-1, at Joe Louis Arena.
Tomas Holmstrom and Nicklas Lidstrom each had a goal for the Red Wings, who have won four of their last five games. Ty Conklin stopped 33 shots in the win.
Patrik Berglund scored the only goal while Manny Legace gave up four goals on 41 shots for the Blues, who have lost seven of the last eight games.
Detroit grabbed the lead with a power-play goal at the 5:03 mark of the first as Datsyuk fired a wrist shot from the slot into the left corner of the net.
The Red Wings scored another power-play goal a little more than five minutes later as a right circle faceoff win went back to Lidstrom, whose slap shot from the slot blew past Legace.
Conklin stopped 17 shots in the first period to keep St. Louis off the board.
Detroit made it a 3-0 game at the 13:01 mark of the second as Holmstrom tipped in a Brad Stuart shot for his 10th goal of the season.
Datsyuk's shorthanded goal with 4:34 left in the second gave the team a 4-0 lead heading into the third.
Berglund got St. Louis on the board just 1:14 into the third period to make it a 4-1 contest but Conklin turned aside the Blues' 11 remaining shots for the win.
St. Louis next hosts San Jose on Saturday...Detroit plays in Nashville on Friday...Detroit has won four of the last five against St. Louis...Detroit went 2-for-7 on the power play while St. Louis went 0-for-6.
