Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Mikael Samuelsson scored the game-winner with 2:34 to play as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Buffalo Sabres, 3-1, at Joe Louis Arena.
Jiri Hudler and Marian Hossa also lit the lamp while Ty Conklin stopped 21 shots for the Red Wings, who are riding a season-high six-game winning streak.
Derek Roy had the lone tally while Ryan Miller was charged with three goals on 48 shots for the Sabres, who had a four-game winning streak stopped.
Hudler set up the game-winning goal as he avoided a defender and from the right boards fired a pass down low where Samuelsson grabbed it and stuffed a backhander past Miller.
Hossa scored on a snap shot just 59 seconds later to seal the win.
The Sabres got on the board at the 5:03 mark of the first period as Drew Stafford tipped a shot on net that Conklin stopped, but Roy was there to bang home the rebound.
Miller was busy in the first period as he had to stop 13 shots to keep the Red Wings off the board.
Detroit tied the game with three minutes left in the second period as Hudler's slap shot beat Miller for his 16th goal of the season.
Conklin had to stop just four shots in the second period to keep the Sabres from scoring a second goal.
Buffalo plays at Chicago on Wednesday...Detroit, which has won seven in a row at home, hits the road for a season-high six-game road trip starting in Dallas on Monday...Buffalo went 0-for-1 on the power play while Detroit finished the game 0-for-3...Detroit has won four of the last five against Buffalo.
