NHL Game Summary - Toronto at Buffalo

(Friday, December 12th)

Final Score: Toronto 2, Buffalo 1

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Ian White's tally with 7:56 remaining in the third period lifted the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena.

Jeremy Williams also scored for the Maple Leafs, who have won two straight on the heels of a three-game slide. Vesa Toskala earned his 11th win of the season with a 24-save performance.

Toni Lydman netted his first goal of the year for the Sabres, who had a three- game winning streak snapped. Ryan Miller was solid between the pipes for Buffalo, stopping 31-of-33 shots in a losing effort.

After Williams tied the game with 2:21 left in the second period, White gave Toronto the lead, firing a soft wrister from the left point that took a fortuitous bounce and eluded a stunned Miller with just under eight minutes left in the contest.

Buffalo continued to press, but couldn't come up with the equalizer.

Lydman lit the lamp at the 6:02 mark of the opening stanza and Miller stopped all 11 shots he faced to make the lead stand up.
