Final Score: Colorado 3, Edmonton 2 (OT)
Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - John-Michael Liles scored 42 seconds into overtime to lift the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place.
Liles also recorded assists on power-play goals by Darcy Tucker and Paul Stastny. Peter Budaj made 18 saves for the Avalanche, who have won three of their last four games after dropping six in a row.
Robert Nilsson and Sheldon Souray lit the lamp for the Oilers, who have lost three straight, all in overtime. Dwayne Roloson allowed three goals on 30 shots in the setback.
Stastny's first goal in nine games since returning from a fractured right forearm gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at the 4:20 mark of the third period. A blast from Souray beat Budaj high on the stick side, tying the game with 5:20 remaining.
Colorado wasted little time in the extra session. Marek Svatos fired a shot from the point and Roloson made the save, but Liles drove hard to the net and slipped the rebound underneath the goaltender's right pad for the game-winner.
Nilsson opened the scoring 3:09 into the contest, then Tucker countered for the Avalanche with 4:58 remaining in the first period.
Neither team tickled the twine in the middle frame.
Colorado finished 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Oilers were 0- for-2...Edmonton is 2-for-37 with the man advantage in its last 10 games...The Avalanche have won five of the last eight meetings.
