Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Cody McLeod scored the game-winner in the 12th
round of the shootout, sending Colorado over Phoenix, 3-2.
The first 10 shooters on both clubs failed to score, then Tyler Arnason for
Colorado and Joel Perreault for Phoenix tallied in the sixth round. John-
Michael Liles and Mike York countered in the eighth series to prolong the
McLeod followed to begin the 12th round by beating Mikael Tellqvist with a
wrister. Keith Yandle could have equalized for the Coyotes, but shot high and
wide to end the game.
Paul Stastny and Marek Svatos scored for the Avalanche, who stemmed a five-
game skid. Jose Theodore stopped 27 shots in regulation and 10 of 12 shootout
tries to earn the win.
Steve Reinprecht and Derek Morris lit the lamp for the Coyotes, who have lost
two in a row after a three-game win streak. Tellqvist also made 27 saves in

for a power-play tally just after the midway point, then Stastny celebrated
his return to the lineup with a goal almost four minutes later.

Peter Mueller corralled a bouncing puck along the left boards and fed to
Morris at the point. His shot from just inside the blue line hit a body in the
slot and slipped by Theodore.
Colorado failed to net a winner late in overtime, despite enjoying a power
play when the Coyotes were whistled for a bench minor.
Stastny was activated from injured reserve prior to the game after missing the
last 15 contests recovering from an appendectomy...The Avalanche continue
their five-game road trip in Edmonton on Sunday, while the Coyotes host St.
Louis also Sunday.
