Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Mike Ribeiro's goal and two assists paced Dallas
over Montreal, 4-1, at American Airlines Center.
Antti Miettinen added a goal and a helper for the Stars, who have won six of
their last seven games. Stu Barnes and Brenden Morrow also tallied and Marty
Turco notched the win with 17 saves.
"It was a good effort all the way around and now we're going to enjoy these
next few days and get back to work on Wednesday," said Morrow. "It was a solid
outing for us coming home after a long road trip."
Andrei Markov provided the lone offense for the Canadiens, who have lost three
of their last four games. Carey Price allowed four goals on 21 shots in
Goals by Miettinen at 7:39 and Morrow at 11:32 staked the Stars to a 2-0
advantage after one period. Ribeiro picked up primary assists on both.
Following a scoreless second period which featured only nine combined shots,
the Stars tacked on two more tallies in the early portion of the third as
Ribeiro and Barnes hit the net in a 2:01 span.
Montreal finally broke the shutout when Markov scored with 6:25 left in the
contest, but the Stars prevented a comeback with some trademark defensive play
down the stretch.
Dallas improved to 3-1-1 in its last five games against Montreal...Ribeiro, a
Montreal native, played for the Habs from 1999-2006...There were 14 penalties
in the game, evenly divided...Brothers Sergei and Andrei Kostitsyn registered
assists on Markov's goal...Jeff Halpern picked up an assist on Barnes' tally,
the 250th point of his NHL career.
