but responded with two second period goals to lead the Carolina Hurricanes
over the New York Islanders, 4-2.

unsportsmanlike conduct, giving Carolina a full two-minute 5-on-3 power play.
The Hurricanes took advantage as Cole tipped in Stillman's shot from the point
to make it 3-1.
Staal's goal with 5:20 left in the third made it 4-1 before Satan redirected
Viktor Kozlov's shot from the point past Ward to make it a two-goal game with
2:08 remaining. The Islanders, however, didn't threaten the rest of the way as
Carolina held on for the win.
It was Cole's third multi-goal game of the year....Whitney's two assists gave
him 100 points with the Hurricanes....Center Kevyn Adams played his 300th game
with Carolina. He missed the last nine games with a staph infection resulting
from a wrist procedure...Carolina hadn't scored in more than 150 minutes after
being shutout the last two games...Meyer played in his first game with New
York since the Islanders acquired him from the Philadelphia Flyers.
