Final Score: Minnesota 5, Atlanta 1

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Manny Fernandez needed to make just 14 saves and Pierre-Marc Bouchard added two goals and two assists as the Minnesota Wild downed the Atlanta Thrashers, 5-1, at Xcel Energy Center.

Mark Parrish scored two goals and Brian Rolston added a goal for the Wild, who have won their last three games.

"I think it's been several games now that guys have hit more and more and we're getting it done," said Wild coach Jacques Lemaire. "We're controlling the other team, especially their top lines so we're effective."

Jon Sim scored the lone goal while Kari Lehtonen was shelled for five goals on 35 shots for the Thrashers, who have dropped two of their last three games.

"We have to play smarter, especially during road games," said Atlanta forward Bobby Holik.

The Wild scored twice in the opening period to assume a 2-0 lead.

Minnesota broke onto the scoreboard less than three minutes in when a slap shot by Rolston from the low left circle beat Lehtonen at the far post.

In the final minute of the first Bouchard attempted a shot from the right side, but the puck dribbled off of his stick. However, it went right to Parrish, who banged it into the open net.

Neither team got on the scoreboard in the second period with Minnesota taking 11 shots and Atlanta throwing six shots on net.

Minnesota increased its lead to 3-0 just 1:26 into the second when Parrish notched his second goal of the game and 13th of the season.

Bouchard gave the Wild a 4-0 lead when he scored a goal at the 10:21 mark and his tip-in goal during a power play with 3:11 made it a 5-0 game.

Sim ruined Fernandez's shutout bid when his turnaround shot from the slot went into the right corner of the net with just 22.3 seconds remaining in the game.
