NHL Game Summary - Phoenix at Dallas

(Friday, November 25th)

Final Score: Phoenix 4, Dallas 1

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Shane Doan had a goal and two assists and Curtis Joseph made 32 saves as the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Dallas Stars, 4-1, at American Airlines Center.

Paul Mara notched a goal and an assist and Ladislav Nagy recorded two assists for the Coyotes, who won for the third time in their last four games. Mike Comrie and Jamie Lundmark added a goal each for Phoenix.

Jussi Jokinen scored the Stars' only goal and Marty Turco stopped 18-of-22 shots for Dallas, which had a season-high five-game winning streak snapped.

Phoenix drew first blood 7:24 into the contest while on the two-man advantage, as Comrie beat Turco for his eighth tally of the season and a 1-0 lead.

The Coyotes upped their lead to 2-0 while again on the power play. Doan beat Turco between his right pad and blocker with a wrist shot from the left circle with 14:25 left in the second period.

Dallas cut Phoenix's lead in half three minutes later after Jokinen beat Joseph with a one-timer from the left circle. Niko Kapanen picked up a turnover in the Coyotes' zone and quickly shoveled a backhand pass across the slot to Jokinen.

Turco kept Dallas within one after he stoned Comrie with his stick on a penalty shot with 6:44 remaining in the game.

But Phoenix took a 3-1 lead less than two minutes later while on another two- man advantage, as Mara took a pass from Nagy across the slot and one-timed a slap shot over Turco's left shoulder.

Just 58 seconds later, Phoenix upped its lead to 4-1 after Lundmark batted a deflected puck past an out-of-position Turco into the open net. A shot from the top of the left circle hit Mike Johnson before it caromed to Lundmark at the side of the net for the easy tally.
