NHL Game Summary - Phoenix at Chicago

(Sunday, November 6th)

Final Score: Chicago 2, Phoenix 1 (OT)

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Brent Seabrook scored the game-winning goal with 38.3 seconds left in overtime, as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Phoenix Coyotes, 2-1, at the United Center.

Seabrook added an assist and Rene Bourque also scored for Chicago, which has won two of its last three games. Kyle Calder netted two assists in the win and Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 28 of 29 shots, including a big save in the extra session.

Shane Doan had the lone goal for the Coyotes, who had a modest two-game winning streak snapped. Boyd Devereaux and Oleg Saprykin each added assists, and David Leneveu made 34 saves in net.

Ladislav Nagy had a chance to give Chicago the win in OT with a shot all alone from the left circle, but Khabibulin made a pretty save to deny Nagy and extend the contest.

Phoenix broke out on a 3-on-1 moments later. Mark Bell had possession on the rush and fed the disc to the high slot for Seabrook, who released a wrister that caromed off Leneveu's leg and into the net to end the game.

"He just blasted it right through me," Leneveu said.

The game remained scoreless until the closing minutes of the second period. Phoenix and Chicago had a collective eight power-play chances through the first two frames, but neither of the goaltenders yielded any ground.

Doan finally broke the stalemate with 1:45 remaining in the second, redirecting a shot in front of the net.

Chicago evened the score at 2:55 of the third on a power-play goal by Bourque. Seabrook took a slapshot from the right side that hit off Leneveu's glove and popped out to the right side to Bourque, who tucked it into the back of the net to force overtime.
