NHL Game Summary - Minnesota at Dallas

(Saturday, April 15th)

Final Score: Dallas 4, Minnesota 3 (OT)

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Trevor Daley scored the game-winning goal with 33.7 seconds left in overtime to lift the Dallas Stars past the Minnesota Wild, 4-3, at American Airlines Center.

Brenden Morrow, Stephane Robidas and Antti Miettinen tallied a goal apiece and Johan Hedberg made 33 saves for Dallas, which has won four of its last five contests. The Stars have already sewn up the second-seed in the Western Conference playoffs with two road games remaining.

Marian Gaborik and Mattias Weinhandl notched a goal and an assist each and Manny Fernandez stopped 20 shots for the Wild, who ended their season with two straight losses. Minnesota finished in last place in the Northwest Division for the fourth time in its five seasons of existence.

"In the second period, they were coming into our zone with a lot of speed," Gaborik said. "We tried to make plays to get into our zone and we should have dumped it instead of chasing it. We came back in the third and had a few chances, but it's too bad they scored."

Late in overtime, Daley took a cross-ice feed from Sergei Zubov and wristed a shot from the left circle that caromed off Fernandez's glove and in for the game-winner.

"When I'm out there with those three, I just want to sit back and watch them play," Daley said. "But I was lucky enough to get a shot and I think I just closed my eyes and let it go."

Minnesota drew first blood 13:49 into the first period while on the power play when Mikko Koivu beat Hedberg for his sixth goal of the season to give the Wild a 1-0 lead.

Dallas, however, scored the next three goals to take a commanding lead. Robidas put Dallas on the scoreboard with 9.1 seconds left in the opening frame when he beat Fernandez with a wrister from along the right half boards that squirted through the five hole to make it 1-1.

The Stars took their first lead of the game 5:15 into the second period after Morrow beat Fernandez through the five hole with a one-timer from the slot for a 2-1 advantage.

The Stars upped their lead 90 seconds later after Miettinen beat Fernandez glove side with a wrist shot from the right circle to make it 3-1.

The Wild, however, scored two goals 11 seconds apart in the third period to force overtime. Hedberg strayed from his net and tried to clear the puck out of the zone, but the clearing attempt was knocked down and Weinhandl one-timed the loose puck into the empty net to make it 3-2.

Minnesota netted the equalizer 7:48 into the third period when Gaborik capped a two-on-one rush by beating Hedberg glove side with a wrist shot from the right circle to make it 3-3.

Neither team scored the rest of the way and the game went to overtime.
