NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Dallas

(Monday, March 20th)

Final Score: Anaheim 2, Dallas 1

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Samuel Pahlsson scored a late third-period goal to give the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center.

Andy McDonald tallied Anaheim's first goal and Teemu Selanne picked up the helper for the Ducks, who have now won three straight and six of their last seven contests. Jean-Sebastien Giguere was outstanding in net, as he turned away 24-of-25 shots in the win.

Antti Miettinen scored the lone goal for the Stars, who saw their four-game win streak halted. Philippe Boucher and Sergei Zubov both assisted on the goal.

Marty Turco conceded two goals on 18 shots for Dallas, which dropped its first game against the Ducks after winning the previous four meetings this season.

With 3:15 remaining in the game, Pahlsson registered his sixth goal of the season to put the Ducks ahead for good. Janne Niinimaa started out of his zone with the puck but was stripped along the left boards by Pahlsson, who took possession and wristed a shot that beat Turco stick-side for the eventual game-winner.

The Stars pulled Turco with 1:30 to play but could only muster one decent scoring chance, as Mike Modano ripped a slap shot from the left circle that Giguere turned aside with just over one minute left.

Miettinen followed a scoreless first period with his ninth goal of the season. Just 3:19 into the second frame, Boucher ripped a slap shot from the high slot that Giguere turned aside. However, Miettinen took the rebound and fired it past the sprawling netminder for a 1-0 Dallas lead that lasted into the second intermission.

The Ducks evened things up at the 5:57 mark of the third period. Selanne slid a pass from the slot to McDonald, who was set up in the right circle. McDonald one-timed the puck past the glove of Turco to make the score 1-1.
