Final Score: Columbus 3, Anaheim 1

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Fred Brathwaite made 19 of his season-high 43 saves in the second period to lead Columbus to a 3-1 win over the Might Ducks of Anaheim at Nationwide Arena.

Nikolai Zherdev finished with a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who posted their third straight victory. David Vyborny and Tyler Wright also scored.

"[Brathwaite] was huge," said Columbus coach Gerard Gallant. "He played great for us."

Petr Sykora scored for the Mighty Ducks, who suffered their second straight loss. Martin Gerber stopped 26 shots.

Vyborny's career-high 21st goal of the season put Columbus ahead 1-0. He scored on a one-timer from between the circles with 7:59 left in the first period.

The Blue Jackets went ahead 2-0 at 7:57 of the second period. Zherdev slid a pass from along the left boards to the slot, where Wright gathered it and scored on a high wrist shot.

They nearly added a goal with 9:20 left in the second, but Andrew Cassell's point-blank shot hit the right point and was covered by Gerber.

Anaheim, which held a 20-11 shot advantage in the second, got within 2-1 with 3:46 remaining in the period on the power play. Sykora followed the rebound of a shot from the right point.

With less than five minutes left in the third period, Columbus had a goal disallowed by a goaltender interference penalty against Wright.

Zherdev capped the scoring on an empty-net goal with 51.4 seconds to play. Brathwaite also turned away 15 shots in the final 20 minutes.

"Columbus found a way to win the game," said Ducks head coach Mike Babcock. "Give them credit."
