NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Chicago

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Steve Rucchin finished with two goals and an assist to lead the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim to a 5-2 win over Chicago at the United Center.

Petr Sykora registered a goal and an assist for the Mighty Ducks, who earned their third straight victory. Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 34 saves to post his league-leading eighth win since the All-Star break.

"We need to be a hard working team every night to win," Rucchin said. "We need to be more solid."

Deron Quint and Eric Daze both posted an goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who are winless in their last five (0-3-2). Michael Leighton stopped 31 shots in the loss.

Sergei Fedorov and Rob Niedermayer each added a goal for Anaheim, which scored the final three goals to snap a 2-2 tie. Niedermayer put the team ahead 3-2 at the end of the second period. He beat Leighton on a wraparound with 3:23 left in the middle stanza.

Rucchin posted the final two goals of the game to secure the victory for the Ducks.

His tally on a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle, on the power play, put Anaheim ahead 4-2 at 4:35 of the third period. He added a goal from the slot 8:02 later.

"This was a tough game to play," Chicago coach Brian Sutter said. "It was a hard game for our defense."

Anaheim took a 2-0 edge in the first period.

Sykora notched his 19th goal on a wrist shot from between the circles 1:14 into the game.

Then, on the power play, Fedorov converted a rebound in the slot off a shot by Rucchin with 6:29 left in the period.

Midway through the second period, Chicago scored consecutive tallies to force a 2-2 tie.

Quint registered his third goal of the season with 8:58 left in the second on the power play. Then, 2:23 later, Daze got his first tally of the season on a slap shot from Quint.

Game Notes

Giguere turned away 13 shots in the second period for the Ducks, who have just one loss in their last nine games against Chicago (6-1-2)...Anaheim improved to 7-2-1-1 in its last 11 games overall...The Blackhawks finished 1-for-4 on the power play, while Anaheim converted two of its three chances with the extra skater.
