"To play catch up against a very good team like Montreal, to be down 2-0 and fight your way back and eventually take the lead...that shows a lot of courage," said Pittsburgh head coach Ed Olczyk. "But we have to find a way to play a full 60 minutes."

Koivu tied the game 5:33 later during a Montreal power play.

The teams split four goals in the first period. Begin opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the contest, as he tipped in a shot by Jason Ward for his third goal of the year.

Ribeiro made it 2-0 at 2:03 when he fired a shot from the slot past Caron for his 14th goal of the year.

Meloche cut the deficit to 2-1 midway through the frame, beating Garon for his third goal of the campaign.
