NHL Game Summary - Tampa Bay at NY Islanders

Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - Radek Martinek and Mark Parrish scored third-
period goals to lift the New York Islanders to a 5-2 victory over the Tampa
Bay Lightning at Nassau Coliseum.
Shawn Bates and Trent Hunter each finished with a goal and two assists for the
Islanders, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win their second straight on the
heels of a seven-game slide. New York has scored 10 goals in its last two
games after notching only seven during the losing streak.
Garth Snow made 29 saves in the victory, while Michael Peca posted a pair of
assists. Jason Blake scored into an empty net in the closing seconds.
Pavel Kubina and Ruslan Fedotenko scored goals for Tampa Bay, which had a two-
game winning streak stopped. Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 30 shots in defeat.
Martinek scored his first goal of the season to snap a 2-2 tie just 3:19 into
the third period. He snuck in from the right point into the right circle, took
a pass from the left corner by Bates and beat Khabibulin with a one-timer.
Parrish then scored his seventh on a 3-on-1 rush at the 8:04 mark to make it a
two-goal game. Dave Scatchard led the break along the right wing and fed a
pass into the slot for Parrish, who backhanded a shot into the upper right
corner of the net.
Snow kept Tampa Bay off the board in the third, turning aside all 11 shots he
faced. Blake sealed it with an empty-net tally with 2.6 seconds remaining.
The goaltenders dominated the scoreless opening period, as Khabibulin made 11
saves and Snow stopped nine shots.
The Lightning cashed in a 5-on-3 power play at 9:11 of the second period to
grab a 1-0 lead, as Kubina beat a screened Snow with a shot from the left
circle.
Fedotenko made it 2-0 just over four minutes later, scoring his third of the
season on a shot from the slot.
The Islanders answered with 4:26 left in the period when Hunter scored his
10th, beating Khabibulin with a second-effort shot from in front.
Bates then tied it just under three minutes later with a one-timer from the
right circle off a feed from Hunter.
Game Notes
Bates and Blake each netted their 50th career goal...Scatchard posted his
200th career point...Brad Richards assisted on both Tampa Bay goals...The
Lightning had beaten Buffalo and the New York Rangers to start a four-game
road trip that ends Thursday in Ottawa...The Lightning posted a 3-2 win over
the Islanders at Tampa in the first meeting this season.
