NHL Game Summary - Buffalo at Tampa Bay

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Pavel Kubina scored twice to lead Tampa Bay to a 2-1 win over Buffalo at the St. Pete Times Forum.

John Grahame stopped 25 shots for the Lightning, who earned their third straight win and improved to 8-1-1-1 on home ice this season.

Maxim Afinogenov scored for the Sabres, who have lost two of their last three. Mika Noronen made 21 saves.

Kubina's second career multi-goal game staked Tampa Bay to a 2-0 edge.

He opened the scoring with 5:45 remaining in the first period with a slapshot from the right faceoff circle. Alexander Svitov got the puck to Kubina on a faceoff.

On the power play, Martin St. Louis slid a pass to the left circle, where Kubina gathered it and beat Noronen with a one-timer with 3:32 remaining in the second.

Afinogenov capped the scoring with 2:43 to go in the third for the Sabres. He carried the puck through the crease and beat Grahame with a high wrist shot.

Game Notes

Brad Richards notched an assist for the Lightning...Kubina registered his 19th career multi-point game. His first two-goal game came March 1, 2002...Buffalo was 0-for-2 on the power play, and has gone 28 chances without a goal...Adam Mair and Chris Taylor each had an assist for the Sabres, who fell to 4-2-2 in their last eight trips to Tampa.
