NHL Game Summary - Chicago at Nashville

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Bryan Berard scored in his Chicago debut to lead the Blackhawks over the Predators, 2-1, at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

The defensman entered the Chicago lineup for the first time since the team signed him last week. Berard, who won the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year in 1997, played 80 games last season for the Boston Bruins and scored 10 goals to go along with 28 assists.

Steve Poapst also lit the lamp for the Blackhawks, who broke a four-game winless streak in Nashville (1-3-1).

Scott Hartnell scored the sole goal for the Predators, who fell to 1-7-1 in their last nine.

After a scoreless first period, the Blackhawks broke a scoreless game with Berard's tally at 8:03 of the second. From the right circle, Berard beat Tomas Vokoun stickside.

Then, with just 1:01 left to play in the game, Poapst posted his first of the campaign with an empty-netter from his own goal line that he banked off the left boards.

Hartnell's fourth goal of the campaign came with only 28 seconds to play in a scramble in front of the net.

Jocelyn Thibault made 31 saves for Chicago, while Vokoun stopped 23 shots for Nashville.

Game Notes

Chicago killed off two power plays in each period and has not given up a power-play goal in five games...The Blackhawks have won three straight games for the first time since December 17-22 of last season.
