NHL Game Summary - Buffalo at Ottawa

Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - Patrick Lalime made 37 saves for Ottawa and Martin Biron countered with 34 for Buffalo, as the Senators and Sabres skated to a 1-1 tie at the Corel Centre.

Daniel Alfredsson scored the lone goal for Ottawa, which is 4-1-1 in its last six.

James Patrick scored the only goal for Buffalo, which is also 4-1-1 in its last six.

The goaltenders controlled the scoreless third period and overtime. Biron stopped 13 shots in the third and three more in the extra period, while Lalime came up with 11 saves in the third and five in overtime.

Biron made two big saves on Radek Bonk just over a minute into overtime, turning aside a shot from the slot and another from the doorstep. Lalime had to stop Brian Campbell from the left circle just before time expired.

The Sabres took a 1-0 lead at 3:55 of the second period on Patrick's first goal of the season. He snuck in from the point and took a pass from behind the net by Daniel Briere and lifted a shot from the right circle over Lalime.

Ottawa tied it on a power play midway through the stanza. Bonk made a pass from the right circle to Zdeno Chara in front of the net. Biron stopped the initial shot, but left the rebound at the top of the crease for Alfredsson, who lifted a shot over the goaltender and under the crossbar for his sixth goal of the year.

Game Notes

Bonk has a nine-game point streak...Ottawa's Marian Hossa had an eight-game point streak stopped...Chris Drury had an assist on Patrick's goal and has at least one point in nine of his last 10 games for Buffalo.
