NHL Game Summary - Vancouver at Los Angeles

(Saturday, December 31st)

Final Score: Los Angeles 4, Vancouver 1

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Justin Williams had a goal and an assist as the Los Angeles Kings took a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Matt Greene, Anze Kopitar and Brad Richardson all scored for the Kings, who have won three of their last four. Jonathan Quick made 27 stops in the win.

"Our confidence is up but it's still a work in progress," said Greene. "We got a big goal out of our third line and that got us going. It's a big win against a very good team."

Kevin Bieksa scored the lone goal for the Canucks, who had a three-game winning streak broken. Roberto Luongo was tagged for all four goals on 33 shots.

"They battled in front of the net and it was a very physical game," said Vancouver defenseman Dan Hamhuis. "We were disappointed to lose, but you can't win every game."

The Canucks scored the first goal of the game as Daniel Sedin set up Bieksa's one-timer from the slot just 3:06 in.

That was it, though, as the Kings scored the next four goals.

Richardson tied the game at the 9:13 mark of the first as his second whack at a rebound got past Luongo.

The Kings then took a 2-1 lead 8:20 into the second when Greene's one-timer from the right point made its way through a screen.

Just under five minutes later, Los Angeles made it a 3-1 game on a backhand from Kopitar for his 11th of the season.

Williams sealed the win halfway through the third with a power-play goal for a 4-1 advantage.
