NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Minnesota

(Sunday, March 11th)

Final Score: Calgary 4, Minnesota 3

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Curtis Glencross is becoming a goalie's worst nightmare.

The Calgary forward scored a goal for the seventh straight game and the Flames continued their playoff push with a 4-3 win over the fading Minnesota Wild.

Jarome Iginla, Sven Baertschi and Olli Jokinen also lit the lamp for Calgary, which has won three games in a row to move into a tie with Los Angeles and Colorado for eighth in the Western Conference standings.

Miikka Kiprusoff turned aside 24 Minnesota shots.

Erik Christensen netted a pair of goals for the Wild, who have lost six of their last seven games. Matt Hackett made 21 saves in defeat.

After playing an ordinary 40 minutes, the teams traded red lights in a goal- happy third period.

Baertschi, the 13th pick in last year's NHL Entry Draft, put the Flames up 2-0 at the 1:43 mark. Hackett made the initial save on a Baertschi deflection, but the 19-year-old forward buried his own rebound for his first career goal. Baertschi made his NHL debut on Friday against Winnipeg.

"It's just a great feeling. Because it was such a nice play, it makes it even better," Baertschi said.

Christensen responded with two goals 2:20 apart, exceeding his season total. First, he fired the puck from the left circle through the Kiprusoff's pads before taking a point pass from Jared Spurgeon and roofing a wrister at 4:30.

It had been a while since the Wild scored on home ice. They were blanked in each of their last two games as the host.

But Calgary went back on top when Glencross sent an indirect pass from Iginla into an open net at 10:17 for his career-high 25th goal of the season. He is one game shy of the club record for the longest goal streak held by Kent Nilsson (1983-84) and Gary Roberts (1992-93).

Jokinen scored off a pass from David Moss to make it 4-2 at 14:42.

The Wild were able to halve their deficit with 1:04 remaining on a tally by Devin Setoguchi, but couldn't solve Kiprusoff a fourth time.

Iginla opened the scoring 9:31 into the contest.
