NHL Game Summary - Ottawa at Dallas

(Thursday, December 1st)

Final Score: Dallas 3, Ottawa 2

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Radek Dvorak and Eric Nystrom scored 3:14 apart late in the third period to lift the Dallas Stars over the Ottawa Senators, 3-2, at American Airlines Center.

Nystrom's goal with 2:20 remaining gave the Stars their first lead, and Andrew Raycroft made it hold up with 33 saves, including a point-blank robbery of Daniel Alfredsson at the buzzer.

The win was Raycroft's second straight as Kari Lehtonen continues to recover from a groin injury.

Erik Condra and Milan Michalek each scored for the Senators, who had a two- game win streak snapped. Craig Anderson made 30 saves in defeat.

"We had the lead and couldn't hold on to it," Anderson said. "We might have gotten a little tired there at the end, and they capitalized on their opportunities."

With 8:18 remaining in the third, Michalek knocked down a long rebound with his glove at the left faceoff circle and quickly wristed in a go-ahead goal.

Dvorak tied it, 3-3, by re-directing Mike Ribeiro's centering pass into the back of the net at 14:26, and Nystrom netted the game-winner by beating Anderson to the far side after spinning out front from behind the net.

The Senators pressured Raycroft in the closing seconds, but to no avail.

Ottawa scored first when a turnover in the neutral zone saw Condra come in 1- on-1 against Raycroft and snap a wrister past the netminder.

Just 2:31 later, though, Dallas did something it hadn't done since November 12 -- score on the power play, as Steve Ott re-directed Toby Petersen's shot from the point to end a stretch of 22 straight unsuccessful power play chances.

Both teams put just four shots on net in an uneventful second period.

Game Notes

The Stars earned their 3,501st all-time point in the standings, the 10th NHL team to do so...Ottawa had just one power-play opportunity.
