NHL Game Summary - NY Islanders at Nashville
(Monday, December 13th)
Final Score: Nashville 5, NY Islanders 0
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Patric Hornqvist scored two goals and rookie
Anders Lindback made 28 saves to record his second consecutive shutout, as the
Nashville Predators beat the lowly New York Islanders, 5-0, at Bridgestone
Arena.
Sergei Kostitsyn had a goal and an assist for the Predators, who have won
three straight and six of their last seven games overall.
Dwayne Roloson stopped 21 shots for the Islanders, who have just one win in
their last 21 outings.
The Predators used the power play to grab a 1-0 lead. Nashville defenseman
Cody Franson made a nifty move to avoid a New York player at the point before
snapping a shot that Kostitsyn tipped behind Roloson at the 11:15 mark of the
first period.
Hornqvist and Jerred Smithson scored 2:09 apart in the middle stanza to make
it 3-0.
After Hornqvist tallied again in the third period, Nick Spaling netted his
first NHL career goal while on a 5-on-3 power play with 1:45 left in
regulation.
"It was a wide open net, so I just had to put it in. I was pretty lucky,"
Spaling said of his memorable goal.
