NHL Game Summary - Los Angeles at Vancouver

(Thursday, November 26th)

Final Score: Vancouver 4, Los Angeles 1

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Henrik Sedin scored the go-ahead goal early in the final period, as the Vancouver Canucks scored three times in the third to defeat the Los Angeles Kings, 4-1, at General Motors Place.

Henrik Sedin also had an assist for the Canucks, who have won three of their past four games. Alexandre Burrows and Kyle Wellwood each had a goal and an assist. Tanner Glass had the other goal for Vancouver, which got 31 saves from Roberto Luongo.

"In the second period they had 11 scoring chances, which is more than we've given up in the last three games and they were all over us, we weren't good at all and he kept us in and in the third period we were able to get our rhythm back and generate a lot of chances and we found a way to beat their goaltender," said Canucks coach Alain Vigneault.

Wayne Simmonds had the lone score for the Kings, who have dropped three of four. Jonathan Quick turned aside 30-of-33 shots in defeat.

"Its unfortunate. Both goaltenders played very well here tonight. I felt bad for Quick at the end of the game. He made some big stops," said Kings coach Terry Murray. "It was an interesting game."

The Canucks got on the board 7:35 into the first period. After Vancouver won a faceoff at the right circle, Daniel Sedin collected the puck and made his way to the bottom of the circle before sliding a pass in front to Burrows, who chipped the disc into the back of the net.

Los Angeles lit the lamp with just 43 seconds left in the second to tie the tilt at one. Simmonds fired a wrister past Luongo in front after the puck deflected off the skate of a Kings player.

Henrik Sedin scored the game-winning goal just 3:54 into the third. Alexander Edler's shot from the left point set up a rebound in front, and Henrik Sedin was there to backhand the disc into the net for a 2-1 edge.

Glass scored at the 7:18 mark to make it a 3-1 game, then Wellwood sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with six seconds remaining.
