NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Nashville|
(Tuesday, January 5th)
Final Score: Calgary 3, Nashville 1
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Miikka Kiprusoff made 27 saves as Calgary
clipped Nashville, 3-1, at Sommet Center.
David Moss, Olli Jokinen and Daymond Langkow scored for the Flames, who won
their fifth straight game and moved one point ahead of idle Colorado for first
place in the Northwest Division.
"We're getting a lot of chances, they just haven't been going in (lately),"
Langkow said. "I think the main thing is that we're creating chances, and if
we keep doing that, eventually we'll get rewarded."
Patric Hornqvist provided the lone offense for the Predators, who saw their
three-game win streak snapped despite a 31-save effort from Dan Ellis.
"The last few games we've played against them, (they've) had a lot of point
blank shots," Ellis said. "We matched up (differently), and they didn't get a
lot of point blank shots (Tuesday). A lot of their chances were generated from
getting the puck to the blue line, then getting traffic and getting rebounds."
Moss snapped a scoreless tie near the midway point of the second period, then
Jokinen doubled the Calgary advantage with 18 seconds left in the frame.
Hornqvist finally put Nashville on the board with 6:15 left in regulation, but
Langkow hit the empty net with 19 seconds to play to seal the victory.
The Flames have won two of the three meetings this season, with one more game
scheduled for Calgary on January 15...Calgary plays at Minnesota on Wednesday
and Nashville hosts Carolina on Thursday.
