NHL Game Summary - Nashville at Anaheim

(Friday, March 12th)

Final Score: Nashville 1, Anaheim 0

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Pekka Rinne stopped 31 shots for his fourth shutout of the season as the Nashville Predators downed the Anaheim Ducks, 1-0, at the Honda Center.

Shea Weber scored the lone goal off assists from Jason Arnott and Ryan Suter for the Predators, who had lost three of four coming into the game.

"He's been a great goalie ever since he's been here and obviously the organization wants him for the long run," said Weber about Rinne. "They showed that by signing him. Obviously, he's rewarding them with some good play."

Nashville now has 79 points and sits three behind Colorado for the sixth spot in the Western Conference.

Jonas Hiller stopped 27 shots for the Ducks, who have dropped five straight and are nine points back of Calgary for the eighth spot in the west.

"We didn't really have a glorious number of chances in tonight's hockey game," said Anaheim head coach Randy Carlyle. "It was tight and it seemed they were content playing that way once they got the 5-on-3 goal. They were keeping four guys above the puck as much as possible and trying to block people out. We had some chances. We just weren't able to get one to go into the net for us."

Skating 5-on-3 late in the first period, the Predators took the lead. Arnott and Weber played catch with the puck and Weber's one-timer from the high slot sailed past Hiller.

Rinne was busy in the first as he made 14 saves and continued the solid play in the second with another six saves.

The goaltender continued his strong play in the third as he helped Nashville kill a power play mid-way through the final period and finished the frame with 11 saves for the shutout.
