NHL Game Summary - Nashville at Chicago

(Saturday, October 24th)

Final Score: Chicago 2, Nashville 0

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Cristobal Huet turned aside 27 shots for his 21st career shutout, leading the Blackhawks to a 2-0 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Huet made 10 saves in the first, 11 in the second and six more in the third as Chicago snapped a two-game skid, but won for the fifth time in seven contests. Dustin Byfuglien and Andrew Ladd scored 56 seconds apart in the middle period as the Blackhawks beat Nashville for a fourth consecutive time.

"The team was helping me out a lot with blocked shots and clearing some rebounds," said Huet. "We played very aggressive defensively."

The Blackhawks won despite playing without Jonathan Toews, who was out with an upper body injury he suffered in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Vancouver. Toews was caught off guard in the third period of the contest when he was leveled by the Canucks' Willie Mitchell after Mitchell had stepped out of the penalty box.

Dan Ellis made 32 stops for the Predators, who lost for the seventh time in eight contests.

Byfuglien netted his fifth goal of the season with 7:20 gone in the second. Patrick Kane sent the puck from the left boards to the low slot where Byfuglien put the puck past Ellis.

Ladd then scored on a short snap shot and the Predators were hurt by three penalties in the third period, although Chicago did have three of its own in the final frame.

Game Notes
