Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Miroslav Satan's second goal of the contest,
coming with 1:35 left in overtime, sent Boston past Toronto, 2-1, at Air
From a right-circle faceoff win, the puck came to Zdeno Chara at the right
point. His wrister came through the slot, where Satan tipped it home using the
shaft of his stick.
"Every game for the last few weeks has been crucial and every point we get is
important," Satan said. "We were able to get by even though we're not scoring
enough but if we keep this up over our remaining games, we will be in good
Tuukka Rask stopped 27 shots for the Bruins, who have won three of five and
moved alone into seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 84 points.
Boston remained two points behind sixth-place Montreal, which beat Buffalo,
and is two ahead of idle Philadelphia and the Rangers, who topped Florida
Colton Orr picked up the only goal for the Maple Leafs, who have dropped three
of their last four. Jonas Gustavsson played well in defeat, making 28 saves.
Orr's sliding shot from the edge of the right circle 5:10 into the contest
gave the Leafs the early edge.
Toronto had a 5-on-3 advantage for more than a minute and a half through the
middle portion of the first but failed to score.
The Bruins drew even at 8:01 of the second period with Satan's tally, then
both teams flew furiously at each other in the third period.
Gustavsson had to stop the better, and more, chances, as he kept the game
knotted with 13 stops in the final 20 minutes. Rask made five saves.
"They played hard because they needed two points, and did what they had to
do," Orr said of the Bruins, who overcame a slow first period. "Monster
(Gustavsson) gave us a chance to win again, and we didn't."
Boston won four of six from Toronto this season...Bruins defenseman Dennis
Seidenberg left the game after the first period with a left-hand injury
suffered by a skate cut and did not return...Dion Phaneuf and John Mitchell
assisted on Toronto's lone score...David Krejci added two helpers for the
