NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Phoenix

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Jarome Iginla scored on an empty net and added
a pair of assists, as the Calgary Flames stayed in the win column with a 4-1
victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.
Todd Bertuzzi, Dion Phaneuf and Brandon Prust each scored for the Flames, who
have won three in a row. Calgary had lost four of five to begin the season.
Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 23-of-24 shots in the win.
"We defended the lead well tonight," Calgary head coach Mike Keenan said. "We
did the small things that are necessary to defend the lead. We were patient
and well positioned in terms of details."
Todd Fedoruk had the lone goal for Phoenix, which lost for the first time at
home this season. The Coyotes had won their first two.
Mikael Tellqvist allowed three goals on 35 shots in the loss.
Bertuzzi got Calgary on board with an early power play goal. Daniel Carcillo
went to the penalty box for fighting and unsportsmanlike conduct, and on the
man-advantage, Bertuzzi knocked the puck out of the air.
The disc went off Tellqvist's right skate and off the stick of Coyotes
defenseman Zbynek Michalek, then into the net at 3:25.
Prust tallied his first career goal with 4:57 left in the opening period, when
he accepted Wayne Primeau's pass from the left circle in the slot and fired
one past Tellqvist low to the stick side.
Fedoruk got Phoenix on the board with a little more than a minute left in the
first, but Calgary got the goal back in the second.
On the power play, Phaneuf got control of the puck in a scrum in front of the
crease, and put a backhander high into the net for a 3-1 Calgary lead at the
6:31 mark.
Iginla's empty-netter in the final minute closed the scoring.
Game Notes
Phoenix was 0-for-3 on power plays, while Calgary went 2-for-3...Iginla has
six goals this season...Calgary won three of four matchups between the clubs
last season, including both at Phoenix.
