NHL Game Summary - Minnesota at Calgary

(Friday, February 27th)

Final Score: Calgary 4, Minnesota 1

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Mike Cammalleri scored twice and Miikka Kiprusoff needed to make just 15 saves to notch his league-leading 37th win of the season, as the Calgary Flames tamed the Minnesota Wild, 4-1, at Pengrowth Saddledome.

Dion Phaneuf and Jamie Lundmark also tallied for the Flames, who have earned at least a point in nine straight games, going 7-0-2.

Marc-Andre Bergeron lit the lamp for Minnesota, which has lost five of its last seven outings. Niklas Backstrom was burned four times on 29 shots.

"We got to forget this (game)," said Wild head coach Jacques Lemaire. "I know one thing, our defensemen can't play worse."

After a fruitless first period, Calgary struck twice in the opening minute of the middle frame.

Cammalleri needed just 17 seconds to find the back of the net, then Phaneuf let a rocket fly from the point 20 seconds later.

"I thought it was big," Cammalleri said of the two quick goals. "You try to stay patient and try not to get frustrated against a team who does some good things defensively."

Lundmark gave the home team a three-goal cushion with his first tally in nearly two years. Cory Sarich retrieved a loose puck in the right circle, spun around and fired a harmless-looking backhander that was deflected in front by Lundmark with 7:21 remaining in the second.

Cammalleri added a power-play goal at 14:39 of the third period, and Bergeron spoiled Kiprusoff's shutout bid less than two minutes later.
