Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jarome Iginla registered a hat trick as the
Calgary Flames downed the Nashville Predators, 5-3, at the Sommet Center.
David Moss and Michael Cammalleri each scored a goal for the Flames, who have
won their past two games. Miikka Kiprusoff made 35 saves.
Jason Arnott had a goal and an assist while Dan Ellis gave up four goals on 26
shots for the Predators, who have lost three of their last four games.
Trailing by two goals, the Flames scored twice within a 1:13 span in the third
period to tie the game.
Iginla got the first goal at the 6:52 mark of the period and Moss jammed the
puck into the net during a scrum in front to tie the contest.
Arnott was called for holding to give Calgary a power play and the Flames used
the advantage to take the lead. Dion Phaneuf blasted a slap shot from the left
point that Cammalleri tipped from in front with 7:29 left in the game.
The Predators controlled play for much of the remainder of the contest, but
were unable to net the equalizer, and Iginla's empty-net goal in the final
seconds accounted for the final score.
Nashville dominated the first period and outshot Calgary, 14-4, but neither
side was able to get on the scoreboard.
The Predators scored twice in a 19-second span in the second to take the lead.
Greg Zanon got the Predators on the board at the 5:42 mark of the frame on a
slap shot for his first goal of the season.
Moments later, Jerred Smithson kept a clearing attempt in the zone and from
the left boards passed it over to Jordin Tootoo, who fired a quick shot past
A little over two minutes later, the Predators made it a 3-0 game with a
power-play goal on a quick snap shot from Arnott for his third goal of the
Calgary made it a two-goal game with under six minutes left in the second as
Iginla's quick wrister from the right circle found the left corner of the net.
Arnott had missed the previous three games with a fractured finger on his
right hand...Before the game, Nashville activated center Nick Tarnasky off the
