Description: The Texans have released running back Andre Brown, according to Pro Football Talk.
Insight: Brown didn't see a snap in the preseason opener, which coach Bill O'Brien said was because there wasn't enough time (the Texans had just 41 plays and lost 32-0 to the Cardinals), and Houston handed him a pink slip a couple days later. When he signed a one-year, $645,000 contract with the Texans in the offseason, it was believed he would be replacing Ben Tate as Arian Foster's backup, but that job will go to Jonathan Grimes. Dennis Johnson was also cut Monday.

Description: According to Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com, Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Andre Brown didn't play in the first preseason game because the team ran so few offensive plays.
Insight: The Texans had just 41 plays and lost 32-0 to the Cardinals. O'Brien said the plan was to play Jonathan Grimes, Alfred Blue and Dennis Johnson, in that order. It's unclear if Brown is behind them on the depth chart or if the Texans already know what they have in him and wanted to see the other backs. With injury-prone Arian Foster on top of the depth chart, we'll continue to monitor the situation to see who emerges as the necessary handcuff.

Description: Former Giants running back Andre Brown has agreed to a one-year deal with Houston, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Brown will take over the Ben Tate role as Arian Foster's backup. Dennis Johnson and Jonathan Grimes are also on the roster but neither is a threat to take away carries from Brown.

Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (concussion) returned to practice on Thursday, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
Insight: Brown took a shot to the head in overtime against Detroit this past week and ended up losing a fumble on the play. He should be the primary ball carrier Sunday with Peyton Hillis as his backup.

12/22/2013 7:53:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown has been diagnosed with a concussion, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Brown took a shot to the head in overtime against Detroit and ended up losing a fumble on the play. The call was upheld even though the replay showed Brown appeared to be down. He was carted to the locker room soon thereafter and his status for Week 17 is now in question. New York may have to sign Tiki Barber out of retirement.

Description: Giants running back Andre Brown was carted to the locker room to be checked for a concussion Sunday against the Lions.
Insight: Brown took a shot to the head in overtime and ended up losing a fumble on the play. The call was upheld even though the replay showed Brown appeared to be down. He's done for the day.

11/10/2013 6:58:00 PM
Description: New York halfback Andre Brown got a huge workload Sunday in his first game back from a broken leg.
Insight: Brown produced 115 yards on 30 carries. He even added a touchdown from a yard out late in the third quarter. New York's backfield conundrum may finally be solved. If Brown is still available, be sure to put in a waiver claim for him next week.

11/8/2013 12:33:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (broken leg and on reserve/designated for return list) is expected to share time with Peyton Hillis in Week 10.
Insight: Brown says he feels "great" and is "ready to go." Meanwhile Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) missed Friday's practice. It will be interesting to see what kind of wokload distribution the team comes up with and which, if any, of the backs can be fantasy worthy assets. Our guess is a pretty even split with Hillis slightly ahead of Brown.

Insight: Brown says he feels "great" and is "ready to go." While Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) also is expected to return in Week 10, Brown should be the workhorse. Peyton Hillis, who is on his last legs, managed to produce 166 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 46 touches the last two games, so Brown will be a definite starting fantasy option in Week 10. New York has a bye in Week 9.

10/17/2013 2:32:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (broken leg and on reserve/designated for return list) has begun practicing this week.
Insight: The Giants have a bye in Week 9 and Brown could return for Week 10. Given the state of the Giants running game, he should step in and be the workhorse option. If Brown is available and you have space on your roster, now is the time to stash him.

9/3/2013 2:30:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (broken leg) has been placed on the injured reserve/designated for return list.
Insight: The injury had a 4-6 week timetable, but this extends that schedule He'll be eligible to return after missing New York's first eight games. The Giants have a bye in Week 9 meaning he could first return for Week 10.

8/30/2013 11:50:00 AM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown, who broke his leg Thursday in an exhibition game against New England, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the injury, according to a ProFootballTalk report.
Insight: Obviously, the injury will help starter David Wilson, who will see a much bigger workload, but apparently it won't be a season-long change, just the half.

Insight: Brown could wind up missing most of the season. In all likelihood, Brown only cost fantasy owners a late round flier so it's not the end of the world. He would have been a nice handcuff for David Wilson and a candidate for goal line carries but that's about it. Mostly, the injury helps Wilson, who may have just risen to RB2 status.

Description: Giants running back Andre Brown (broken fibula) has been placed on injured reserve/designated to return. SOURCE: Ohm Youngmisuk, ESPN New York
Insight: Brown suffered the injury Sunday night. It's an unfortunate situation for a player who has battled through serious injuries since his rookie year and been cut seven times. He's played a big role in the Giants offense behind brittle starter Ahmad Bradshaw, scoring eight touchdowns and finding the end zone in five straight games. Rookie David Wilson will have to step up for New York.

Description: Giants running back Andre Brown broke his fibula Sunday night against the Packers.
Insight: It's an unfortunate situation for a player who has battled through serious injuries since his rookie year and been cut seven times. He's played a big role in the Giants offense behind brittle starter Ahmad Bradshaw, scoring eight touchdowns and finding the end zone in five straight games. Rookie David Wilson will have to step up for New York.

11/11/2012 5:12:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown has quietly found the end zone in six of his last seven games, including four straight.
Insight: Since returning from a concussion, Brown has served as New York's goal-line back. Ahmad Bradshaw will have the bye week to recover from his foot injury so we'll have to see how New York utilizes Brown in Week 12.

10/7/2012 6:47:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown has been diagnosed with a concussion, according to ESPN New York.
Insight: Ahmad Bradshaw is back and healthy -- he carried it 30 times for 200 yards in Week 5 -- so Brown won't have much fantasy value going forward. David Wilson scored on a long TD run as well in Week 5 so Brown's backup role may also be in jeopardy if he doesn't recover quickly.

10/7/2012 1:50:00 PM
Description: Giants running back Andre Brown left Sunday's game against Cleveland with a head injury. His return is unknown.
Insight: Bradshaw should take over as a workhorse back with still-in-the-doghouse David Wilson as his backup.

10/1/2012 9:41:00 AM
Description: Andre Brown was unable to match his breakout performance in Week 3 Sunday night versus the Eagles. The Giants halfback carried the ball just five times for 14 yards.
Insight: As good as Brown was last week against Carolina (113 yards and two touchdowns), it looks like his impact will be limited now that Ahmad Bradshaw is healthy again. Bradshaw saw the lion's share of the carries for New York on Sunday night, rushing the ball 13 times for 39 yards.

Hot9/27/2012 7:24:00 PM
Description: According to Ralph Vacchiano on the New York Daily News, Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said running back Andre Brown has "really changed the dynamic of our run game" and said the team will try to determine "what plays certain guys run a little more effectively than others."
Insight: With starter Ahmad Bradshaw likely to play Sunday night against the Eagles, Gilbride suggested the team will play the hot hand, which right now is Brown (184 yards, 3 TDs in last two games). However, neither guy can be trusted as starting fantasy running back if both are active.
