Alameda, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Raiders hired Clancy Pendergast as an assistant coach on Monday.

Pendergast's role was not made clear in the team's release on the hiring.

Pendergast was fired as the defensive coordinator in Kansas City last month after spending one season with the team. He had spent the previous five years as defensive coordinator in Arizona and helped the Cardinals reach the Super Bowl last season.
