11/29/2012 4:01:00 PM
Description: The Mavericks have waived veteran forward Troy Murphy to make room on the roster for Derek Fisher.
Insight: Murphy has shot a dismal 36.1 percent from the field in 14 games this season. It's possible Murphy could latch on with another team at some point but doing so won't be enough to suddenly make him a worthwhile fantasy player.

11/1/2012 10:08:00 PM
Description: Troy Murphy has signed with the Mavericks, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Insight: Murphy hasn't had fantasy value since 2009-10, but the move is noteworthy because it could mean the team is worried about the availability of injured forward Dirk Nowitzki later this season.

2/28/2011 9:03:00 AM
Description: ESPN's Marc Stein reports that sources say Murphy is deciding between Boston and Miami for his post-buyout destination.
Insight: Stein says Portland has shown interest as well but calls it a "near lock Murphy is going east." He stunk this year for the Nets, but Murphy is worth a look if motivated and on a team that will play him a lot. (RapidDraft.com)

2/27/2011 11:24:00 PM
Description: The Warriors and Troy Murphy have reportedly reached an agreement for a buy-out. SOURCE: Mercury News
Insight: Murphy agreed to sign with an east team as part of the deal, so we can expect him to sign with Orlando, Miami, or Boston by Tuesday. If there is any sort of dead weight on your roster, make the move now.

2/24/2011 9:02:00 AM
Description: Murphy -- and, more importantly, his expiring contract (buyout) -- was traded to the Warriors on Wednesday.
Insight: Murphy is in the midst of his worst pro season. If you happen to play in a loser's league type of set up, then Murphy's movement might be interesting. (RapidDraft.com)

2/19/2011 2:30:00 PM
Description: The Warriors are interested in acquiring Troy Murphy. SOURCE: CSN Bay Area
Insight: There is still a very good chance that he would be bought out by the Warriors. However, if they actually decide to keep him--like the way the Clippers kept Drew Gooden last year-- he could be worth owning in most leagues. If there is dead weight on your team, you might as well stash him until Tuesday at the earliest.

2/18/2011 4:02:00 PM
Description: The New York Post reports that Murphy will be heading to the Nuggets as part of the Carmelo Anthony trade.
Insight: Er, more appropriately, "Troy Murphy's expiring contract." Murphy is averaging a career-worst 3.6 points per game this season. (RapidDraft.com)

1/10/2011 4:05:00 PM
Description: Murphy was the lone player not practicing on Monday with the Nets.
Insight: There's a chance here that he's to the point where he just doesn't care anymore. Either that, or he is still struggling through the flu. Either way, keep him out of lineups until things start to change for the better. (RapidDraft.com)

12/1/2010 12:57:00 AM
Description: Troy Murphy stunk it up worse than Exit 15W on the New Jersey Turnpike as he failed to score and grabbed five boards in 17 minutes.
Insight: Yuck. Murphy is easily going to be the bust of the year and his owners might want to see if they can get anything before cutting him. If Jordan Farmar is out there, it might be time to cut Murphy.

11/5/2010 10:03:00 PM
Description: Murphy, in his second game of the season, had five points, three assists, two steals and five rebounds for the Nets.
Insight: Owners should give Murphy some time before he gets his game back after recovering from a lower back injury. (RapidDraft.com)

11/4/2010 4:49:00 PM
Description: Troy Murphy will have his minutes kept in check until he is back to being in game shape. SOURCE: Star Ledger
Insight: His value is very low right now and it projects to stay low for another week or so. Chances are that the owner in your league that has him doesn't have his finger on the pulse of the league or else he wouldn't have drafted him. He doesn't have the upside to be a must-start in shallow leagues, but he should be a very solid starter on standard rosters once he gets the ball rolling in about two weeks.

11/3/2010 9:50:00 PM
Description: The Nets appear to be cautious with Troy Murphy as he played just 18 minutes and accumulated only two points, two boards, and a block.
Insight: There are probably quite a few frustrated Murphy owners out there, so it's time to see how cheap he could go for in a trade. Try not to insult the owner though.

11/2/2010 12:44:00 PM
Description: Troy Murphy is a "50-50" shot at playing in the Wednesday game for New Jersey. SOURCE: YES Network
Insight: This back issue will likely become a problem in the future, so his owners might want to work on dealing him once he gathers some value.

10/26/2010 11:01:00 AM
Description: Murphy took part in Nets' practice and is close to returning to action. The power forward had been sidelined with a lower back injury.
Insight: Murphy could be a strong asset on the boards for the Nets. His return will send Derrick Favors back to the bench, where he probably belongs for the time being. (RapidDraft.com)

10/18/2010 9:21:00 PM
Description: Troy will be held out for the rest of the preseason, but will begin practicing this weekend. SOURCE: Star Ledger
Insight: His back injury is not minor and it's practically a foregone conclusion this injury will cost him more games than most people can count on one hand (Antonio Alfonseca TBD). He's not a player to target in drafts.

10/8/2010 1:00:00 PM
Description: Murphy will be out indefinitely because of a lower back injury, according to the AP.
Insight: Murphy averaged 14.6 points and 10.2 rebounds last year with the Pacers. When he comes back, he should help Brook Lopez on the boards. (RapidDraft.com)

10/8/2010 12:13:00 PM
Description: Troy Murphy has been ruled out indefinitely with a lower back injury. SOURCE: YES Network
Insight: Uh oh. AK-47 owners know these types of injuries all too well. There's no timetable for his return, but three weeks to a month seems like a fair conjecture. Derrick Favors could obviously have a huge uptick in fantasy value, but he looked like a rookie for the Nets in their last preseason game. Chances are someone else will reach for Favors based on the rookie factor.

9/30/2010 1:20:00 PM
Description: Troy Murphy suffered what is perceived to be a mild groin strain and the Nets will keep him out of contact drills for the immediate future. SOURCE: NY Post
Insight: Murphy doesn't have much of an injury history, so he should be OK and this news should not alter his value. Derrick Favors is going to be waiting in the wings all year and this year's third overall pick has the talent to become a fantasy force. However, Favors is not a reliable fantasy option for this year.

8/11/2010 4:52:00 PM
Description: Troy Murphy was traded to the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday. The Nets traded away Courtney Lee in the big deal. SOURCE: ESPN.com
Insight: Murphy is going to be the starting four in New Jersey, but there is no doubt he'll lose considerable value by not playing in the fantasy-friendly offense of the Pacers. This move destroys the chances of Derrick Favors having a breakout rookie campaign.
