Chicago Bulls (28-43) at Atlanta Hawks (31-40), 7:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks are barely clinging to the final playoff spot in the East, and will resume a three-game homestand tonight versus the Chicago Bulls at Philips Arena.
The Hawks are just a half game ahead of the New Jersey Nets in the conference standings, and posted a 115-96 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday in the opener of the homestand. Joe Johnson led a balanced attack with 28 points and eight assists, while Marvin Williams and Mike Bibby each netted 16 points for the Hawks, who will also host New York and are 22-13 at home.
Atlanta has won five of its last seven games overall, and three in a row at Philips Arena. On the injury front for the Hawks, Bibby (sprained left thumb) is questionable for Friday's game.
Chicago will close out a short two-game road trip this evening, and is 11-25 away from the Windy City in 2007-08. In the opener of the trek on Wednesday at Philadelphia's Wachovia Center, Thabo Sefolosha finished with 20 points and five assists for the Bulls, who have dropped three of four games and fell three games behind the eighth-seeded Hawks for the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
Kirk Hinrich netted 18 points and had six assists, while Andres Nocioni had 16 points in defeat. Chicago has dropped five in a row as the visitor.
The Bulls and Hawks are meeting for the fourth and final time in the regular season, while Chicago is 2-1 so far in the season series. Chicago has won 15 of 19 and 16 of the last 21 encounters with Atlanta.
Chicago has won six of seven and eight of its last 13 at the Hawks.
