NBA Preview from The Sports Network
Friday, February 29th (All times eastern)
Miami Heat (10-45) at Seattle SuperSonics (15-42), 10:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - Two of the weakest teams in the NBA meet tonight as the Seattle SuperSonics welcome the Miami Heat to KeyArena.
This is the second and final meeting of the season between the squads. On November 14, Chris Wilcox scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the SuperSonics beat the Heat, 104-95, at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Miami has won two straight and four of its last six at Seattle, however.
The SuperSonics attempt to put the brakes on a three-game losing streak tonight. On Wednesday, Allen Iverson had 31 points on 13-of-18 shooting as the Denver Nuggets pummeled Seattle, 138-96, at KeyArena.
Rookie phenom Kevin Durant shot just 4-of-17 from the floor for 16 points for the SuperSonics, who have dropped six of their last eight games overall. Mickael Gelabale also scored 16 points for Seattle, while rookie Jeff Green and Johan Petro poured in 15 points each.
The Sonics shot just 36.3 percent from the field for the game.
Seattle is just 10-20 at home this season. After tonight's contest, the SuperSonics will embark on a season-long seven-game road trip. They will visit Minnesota, Detroit, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Toronto, Indiana and Boston on the swing.
Miami plays the third of a four-game trek and has dropped the first two on the trip. On Thursday, Jordan Farmar scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers in a 106-88 rout of the lowly Heat at the Staples Center.
Dwyane Wade ended with 18 points for the Heat, who have dropped 12 of their last 13 games overall. Ricky Davis collected 14 points and nine assists.
Miami has dropped 14 in a row and 19 of 21 games away from home and owns a 4-23 mark on the road this season. The Heat's last win as the guest was against the Suns on December 10.
