NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Tuesday, February 12th (All times eastern)

Denver Nuggets (31-19) at Miami Heat (9-40), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The disappointing Miami Heat will try to snap a seven-game skid this evening, when they wrap up a short homestand versus the Denver Nuggets at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Miami opened the homestand with Sunday's 104-94 setback to the Los Angeles Lakers, as Dwyane Wade posted 19 points and nine assists in a losing effort. Shawn Marion made his Miami debut and finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Marion and guard Marcus Banks were acquired from Phoenix last week in exchange for All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal.

Mark Blount had 22 points for the Heat, who have lost 22 of their last 23 games and fell to an NBA-worst 9-40 on the season. Banks ended with seven points and four assists in nearly 15 minutes off the bench.

The Heat have also lost four in a row at AmericanAirlines Arena and are 5-20 in South Beach in 2007-08. In injury news for the Heat, guard Ricky Davis (flu) is listed as questionable for tonight.

Meanwhile, Denver will resume a three-game road trip on Tuesday and is 10-13 away from the Pepsi Center this season.

The Nuggets have won two straight and five of their last six games, including Sunday's 113-83 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opener of the road trip at Quicken Loans Arena. Carmelo Anthony had 27 points and Allen Iverson tallied 25 and 13 assists to lead the Nuggets.

J.R. Smith scored 18 points and Marcus Camby pulled down 17 rebounds for Denver, which has won three straight as the guest and will also pay a visit to the Orlando Magic. The Nuggets are just a game behind Utah in the Northwest division standings.

Tuesday's contest between Denver and Miami is the second and final meeting this season. The Nuggets recorded a 115-89 triumph over the Heat on December 2 at the Pepsi Center, as Anthony scored 30 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the charge.

Denver has won five straight and six of the last seven meetings with Miami. It has also won two straight after losing its last two trips to South Beach.
