(Sports Network) - The 2007-08 season continues to be a brutal one for the Miami Heat, who will pay a visit to the Southeast Division-rival Washington Wizards tonight at the Verizon Center.
Miami is just 8-22 on the season and has dropped three straight, five of six and 12 of its last 16 games. In Friday's 121-114 overtime loss to the division-leading Orlando Magic at AmericanAirlines Arena, Dwyane Wade ended with a career-high tying 48 points, a season-best 11 assists and seven boards for the Heat.
Ricky Davis added 17 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Udonis Haslem had 17 points and nine boards for Miami, which will try to snap a three-game losing streak on the road Saturday night. The Heat are 4-12 as the guest this season.
In injury news for the Heat, All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal (hip) and guard Jason Williams (knee) both missed Friday's loss and are expected to miss this evening's contest at Washington.
The Wizards will open a short two-game homestand versus Miami and Detroit, and are 8-6 at the Verizon Center this season. They have lost four of their last five games, including Friday's 109-106 setback to the New Jersey Nets at the Izod Center.
Caron Butler had 28 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Wizards. Antawn Jamison finished with 27 points and 13 boards in a losing effort. Washington will now attempt to halt a two-game slide at home.
The Wizards posted a 104-91 victory over the Heat on December 13 this season in South Beach.
Miami, though, has won three of four and 15 of the last 17 meetings with Washington. It has also won seven of the last eight matchups in D.C.
