NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Friday, December 28th (All times eastern)

Houston Rockets (13-15) at Memphis Grizzlies (8-20), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Houston Rockets close out a four-game road trip this evening against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum.

The Rockets are 1-2 on the trek and have lost six of their last eight games, including Sunday's 94-82 setback to the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Rockets stars Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming had early exits due to injury, hampering Houston's chances of winning.

McGrady, who has been nursing a sore left knee, sat out most of the second half and is expected to miss at least two games. Yao was also out most of the second half against Detroit after sustaining a facial cut.

Luis Scola had 18 points to lead the Rockets, while McGrady scored 14 points and Yao added 12 in a losing cause. Houston is 7-10 away from home this season. In injury news for the Rockets, Yao is probable for Friday's game and forward Bonzi Wells is questionable with flu-like symptoms.

Memphis will conclude a three-game homestand tonight and has dropped three in a row. The Grizzlies fell to 0-2 on the stand after suffering a 116-98 setback to the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night.

Mike Miller and Rudy Gay scored 19 points apiece for the Grizzlies, who have lost 10 of their last 12 games and fell to 5-10 as the host in 2007-08. Kyle Lowry finished with 15 points, eight assists and seven boards for Memphis.

The 2007-08 season series between Houston and Memphis is tied at a game apiece. The Rockets have won five of the last six encounters.

Houston, though, has lost four of its last six games at FedExForum.
