NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, December 23rd (All times eastern)

Houston Rockets (13-14) at Detroit Pistons (19-7), 6 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The streaking Detroit Pistons conclude a two-game homestand when they host the Houston Rockets tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

This is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On December 12, Tracy McGrady scored a game-high 29 points as the Rockets survived a tense final minute to beat the Pistons, 80-77, at the Toyota Center.

Houston has won two in a row in the series. The Rockets have lost six straight and 10 of its last 11 at Detroit.

Detroit enters tonight's contest on a four-game winning streak. Tayshaun Prince led a well-balanced Detroit attack with 16 points, and the Pistons cruised to a 94-67 stomping of the Memphis Grizzlies at The Palace.

Chauncey Billups ended with 14 points and seven assists, while Richard Hamilton also scored 14 points for the Pistons, who have won 11 of their last 13 games overall. Rookie Arron Afflalo scored 12 points off the bench, and Antonio McDyess collected 11 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

The Pistons are scheduled to visit Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday at the Izod Center. Detroit is an impressive 10-2 at home this season.

The Rockets play the third of a four-game road trip. On Saturday, Tracy McGrady scored 20 points in his return to the lineup, and the Rockets put seven players in double figures in a 116-98 victory over the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

McGrady, who was out with a sore left knee for Thursday's double-overtime loss at Denver, was 8-of-18 from the floor and handed out eight assists for the Rockets, who snapped a three-game slide.

Bonzi Wells also had 20 points and Yao Ming collected 18 points and eight rebounds for the Rockets. Yao left the game after spraining his finger in the third quarter, but returned in the fourth.

Houston wraps up its swing on Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedExForum.
