(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks resume a three-game road trip this evening against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.
Atlanta ended a three-game losing streak with Wednesday's 82-79 win over the Miami Heat in the opener of the trek at AmericanAirlines Arena. Josh Smith pinned Dwyane Wade's potential game-tying layup against the backboard in the final seconds to secure the victory and ended with 16 points and 11 boards.
Joe Johnson finished with 22 points and seven rebounds for Atlanta, which used an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to help end a 17-game road losing streak dating back to last season. The Hawks will close out the road trip next Tuesday against Chicago at the United Center.
In injury news for the Hawks, rookie guard Acie Law (ankle) is probable for Saturday's game, while guard Salim Stoudamire (ankle) is questionable against the Timberwolves.
The Hawks are 1-4 on the road this season.
Minnesota has lost four in a row and nine of its first 10 games to start the campaign. On Friday, Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 31 points to get the Denver Nuggets back on the winning track with a 99-93 victory over the Timberwolves, at the Pepsi Center.
Antoine Walker led Minnesota 24 points off the bench in the loss to Denver. Al Jefferson had 15 points and 14 boards, and Ryan Gomes provided 18 points in defeat.
The Timberwolves are 1-5 at home this season. They will visit the New Orleans Hornets on Monday at New Orleans Arena and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday at American Airlines Center.
Atlanta won both meetings with Minnesota last season and has won four of five and five of the last seven matchups.
The Hawks snapped an eight-game losing streak on the road in this series with a 105-88 victory over Minnesota at the Target Center on January 17, 2007.
