Houston Rockets (6-6) at Miami Heat (2-9), 8 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The Houston Rockets are caught in a funk and will try to end a five-game losing streak this evening against the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Houston suffered its fifth straight loss following Wednesday's 100-94 setback to the rival Dallas Mavericks at the Toyota Center. Yao Ming ended with 30 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks, but the Rockets couldn't avoid falling to 6-6 on the season.
Tracy McGrady had 15 points, but recorded just three in the decisive fourth quarter. McGrady, who missed the previous two games because of a sprained elbow, also had seven rebounds and 12 assists with six turnovers.
Meanwhile, the Heat are off to an abysmal 2-9 start this season and have dropped four of the last five games.
In Wednesday's 82-79 loss to the Atlanta Hawks at home, Shaquille O'Neal had 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks for the reeling Heat, who are still without a home win on the season (0-5). Not since the franchise's inaugural season of 1988-89 has Miami had a worse home record to start a season.
Dwyane Wade finished with 14 points and had his potential game-tying layup blocked by Atlanta's Josh Smith in the final moments of the contest.
The Rockets won both meetings with Miami last season, but the Heat have won four of seven and five of the previous nine encounters.
Houston has lost three of four and nine of its last 12 trips to South Beach.
