NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, January 16th (All times eastern)

Seattle SuperSonics (9-28) at New Orleans Hornets (25-12), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The New Orleans Hornets begin a five-game homestand when they host the slumping Seattle SuperSonics tonight at New Orleans Arena.

This is the third and final meeting of the campaign between the squads. The Hornets won the two previous contests and have won four in a row in the series.

Seattle has lost five straight after winning its last two at the Hornets.

New Orleans opens the homestand on a two-game winning streak. On Sunday, David West finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Hornets over the Houston Rockets, 87-82, at the Toyota Center.

Chris Paul scored 19 points and dished out 11 assists for New Orleans, which has won five of six and 10 of its last 12 games overall. Jannero Pargo netted 10 points off the bench for the Hornets.

The Hornets are 10-7 at home this season. They will also host the Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Clippers on the current homestand.

Seattle enters tonight's contest on a seven-game losing streak. Kobe Bryant's jumper with 4.3 seconds left in overtime lifted the Los Angeles Lakers to a 123-121 win over the SuperSonics on Monday at KeyArena.

Nick Collison ended with 24 points and 18 rebounds, while rookie phenom Kevin Durant added 19 points for the SuperSonics, who have dropped nine of their last 10 games overall.

The SuperSonics are 4-15 on the road this season. They will also visit Memphis, Dallas and Houston on the current swing.
