NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Wednesday, November 14th (All times eastern)

Los Angeles Lakers (3-3) at Houston Rockets (6-2), 9 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets battle for the second time this season, as they meet tonight at the Toyota Center.

On opening night of the new season, Tracy McGrady scored 30 points and Shane Battier drained a tie-breaking three-pointer with 2.5 seconds to play as Houston held on in the final seconds to top the Lakers, 95-93, at the Staples Center.

The Lakers have won four of their last six at Houston.

LA wraps up a two-game road trip tonight. On Tuesday, Tony Parker scored 26 points and dished out nine assists as the defending world champion San Antonio Spurs routed the Lakers, 107-92, at the AT&T Center.

Superstar Kobe Bryant scored 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds and handed out five assists in the loss for the Lakers, who have dropped two of their last three games overall. Jordan Farmar scored 16 points off the bench, while Andrew Bynum finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lakers are 1-1 on the road this season. They return home to host the Detroit Pistons on Friday and the Chicago Bulls on Sunday at the Staples Center.

Houston also tries to get back on the winning track this evening. Pau Gasol scored 26 points and the Memphis Grizzlies withstood McGrady's 41-point effort to down the Rockets, 105-99, on Tuesday at FedExForum.

McGrady made 16-of-28 from the floor, but missed his final two attempts, including a jumper for the lead with under two minutes remaining. Yao Ming finished with 22 points and seven rebounds in defeat.

The Rockets, who have won three in a row against the Lakers, are 3-0 at home this season. They will visit Tim Duncan and the Spurs on Friday at the AT&T Center.
