New Orleans Hornets (5-2) at New Jersey Nets (4-2), 7:30 p.m.
(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets conclude a four-game homestand when they welcome the New Orleans Hornets tonight to the Izod Center.
New Jersey is 2-1 on the stand. The Nets are expected to be without All-Star Vince Carter against New Orleans, as the North Carolina product has a sprained right ankle. Carter is averaging 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists this season.
On Saturday, Paul Pierce finished with 28 points to keep Atlantic Division - rival Boston undefeated with a 112-101 victory over the Nets at the Izod Center.
Richard Jefferson had 28 points for the Nets, who had a three-game winning streak halted. Jason Kidd had a double-double with 17 points and 12 assists while Carter also netted 17, but left the game in the third quarter with a an injured ankle and did not return.
The Nets are 3-2 at home this season. They will visit the Celtics on Wednesday at TD Banknorth Garden.
New Orleans concludes a short two-game road trip. Chris Paul and David West both recorded 16 points, as the Hornets knocked off the Philadelphia 76ers, 93-72, on Sunday at the Wachovia Center.
Paul also dished out nine assists in the win over Philadelphia for the Hornets, who snapped a two-game slide. Bobby Jackson scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench, while Peja Stojakovic collected 10 points and Tyson Chandler ripped down a game-high 12 rebounds in the victory.
The Hornets are 3-1 on the road this season. They return home to host the Sixers on Wednesday at New Orleans Arena.
Last season, the Hornets and New splits a pair of contests. The Hornets have lost six of nine and seven of their last 12 at New Jersey.
