NBA Preview from The Sports Network

Saturday, January 12th (All times eastern)

Detroit Pistons (27-9) at Charlotte Bobcats (13-22), 7 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Central Division-leading Detroit Pistons play the third of a four-game road trip tonight, when they visit the Charlotte Bobcats down south.

This is the second meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On December 9th, Chauncey Billups scored 20 points and Antonio McDyess added 19 in Detroit's 104-85 pounding of the Bobcats at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Detroit, which has won two in a row over the Bobcats, has won three of its last four at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. These two teams have split the six meetings in North Carolina.

The Pistons are 1-1 on their current road swing. Rasheed Wallace scored 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds, as Detroit jumped out early and cruised down the stretch for a 90-80 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday at the AT&T Center.

Richard Hamilton contributed 18 points, Tayshaun Prince netted 17 and Chauncey Billups collected 13 points, five rebounds and six assists for the Pistons, who halted a two-game skid.

Detroit is a solid 14-6 on the road this season. The Pistons are scheduled to visit the New York Knicks on Sunday at historic Madison Square Garden.

Charlotte will open a three-game homestand tonight versus Detroit, Denver and Orlando. It is 11-10 as the host this season and had its two-game winning streak halted with Friday's 113-106 double-overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.

Gerald Wallace had 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bobcats, while Nazr Mohammed scored 21 and grabbed 15 boards prior to fouling out early in the first overtime. Jason Richardson added 19 points and Raymond Felton had 12 points and 11 assists before leaving late in the second OT with an ankle injury, as the Bobcats lost for the eighth time in 11 tries.

Charlotte was coming off an improbable win over the Celtics in Boston. Felton and guard Derek Anderson (knee) are questionable for Saturday's game.
