(Sports Network) - The mighty Boston Celtics shoot for their eighth straight win tonight, when they close out a short two-game homestand versus the Memphis Grizzlies at TD Banknorth Garden.

The Celtics posted their seventh straight win with Wednesday's 97-93 victory over the Houston Rockets in the opener of the homestand. Kevin Garnett scored 26 points and made a key jumper in the final minute to lead the Celtics, who improved to an NBA-best 15-1 as the host this season.

Boston has won three in a row at home.

Paul Pierce had 19 points and seven assists, while Rajon Rondo ended with 13 points and had nine assists in the win.

Memphis will conclude a three-game road trip on Friday and put the brakes on a five-game skid with Wednesday's 90-72 victory over the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Pau Gasol ended with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Mike Miller contributed 19 points and 11 boards for the Grizzlies, who are 1-1 on the current trek and 4-11 away from FedExForum this season. Rudy Gay had 24 points in the winning effort.

Friday's game between Memphis and Boston is the first of two meetings this season. The Grizzlies will host the Celtics on March 8.

Memphis and Boston split a pair of meetings last season, while the Celtics have won eight of the last 12 meetings.

The Grizzlies have lost four of six and six of the 11 all-time matchups at Boston.
