New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets (8-5) at Dallas Mavericks (8-4), 8:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The red-hot Dallas Mavericks go for their ninth straight victory when they welcome the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets tonight to American Airlines Center.

The Mavericks have won 17 in a row over the Hornets. The Hornets have lost nine straight and 10 of their last 11 at Dallas.

The Hornets last win over Dallas was at home on November 17, 1999 when the franchise was based in Charlotte. The Hornets last win on the road against the Mavericks was on January 24, 1998.

Dallas plays the opener of a four-game homestand this evening. On Friday, All- Star Dirk Nowitzki had 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Mavericks over the San Antonio Spurs, 95-92, at AT&T Center.

Jason Terry added 14 points and 10 assists in the win over San Antonio for the Mavs, who led by as many as 17 points in the first half. Josh Howard, who missed the last eight games with a sprained ankle, returned to the lineup and scored 12 points for Dallas, which had dropped its first four games of the season before going on its current winning streak.

The Mavericks are 3-2 at home this season. They will host Minnesota on Monday, Toronto on Wednesday and Sacramento on December 1st during the current homestand.

New Orleans/Oklahoma City tries to halt a two-game losing streak. On Friday, Ricky Davis netted 23 to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Hornets, 86-79, at the Ford Center.

Chris Paul ended with 18 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Hornets, who failed to start a season 5-0 at home for the first time in franchise history since the 2002-03 campaign. Bobby Jackson and Jannero Pargo both contributed 13 points for the Hornets.

The Hornets are 4-4 on the road this season. After tonight's contest, they return home to host the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday and the Chicago Bulls on December 1st.
